    Bring the theater home

This is the fourth iteration of the Samsung Q930 sound bar, which is the premium series of their products. The Q930 is only bested by the Q990 and has all the same features, just fewer speakers. Unboxing (the box is HUGE) and setup was straight forward. Everything needed is included, five speakers, power cords, remote and a HDMI cord. I liked that wall-mount hardware was also included for the soundbar but not for the rear speakers. Setting up the system involved just plugging the speakers in. I like that the rear speakers have a longer cord than the subwoofer and soundbar. The sub and rear speakers are wireless, needing only a power outlet, which is really nice - allowing much more freedom for placement. For connectivity, the Q930D has two HDMI 2.1 ports, and an Optical Digital input. It also has bluetooth Apple AirPlay and Wi-Fi. Additionally, the Q930D has Alexa, Chromecast and Bixby built in. Of course (thankfully), there’s an app for that! The Samsung SmartThings app, in my opinion, is needed for this sound system. Connecting the Q930D to the app was simple and fast, just start the app and follow the prompts - the soundbar popped up almost immediately. The remote control appears to be pretty simple but there are numerous “hidden” keys that require the soundbar to be off and the keys to be held for five seconds to access the features including voice feedback and the 7-band equalizer. The downside to using the remote is the four character dot display is difficult to read for anything other than the two-digit volume level as longer items scroll across the display. The Samsung Q930 has great sound and provides options to mold it to your taste - a seven band equalizer, Active Voice Amplifier, SpaceFit Sound and Q-Symphony. You can adjust the volume separately for the soundbar, sub and rear speakers as well. The volume control goes to 100 but the highest I’ve had so far is only 25. Bass is deep and room filling. The rear speakers fire both upwards and out filling the room. Atmos programming sounds like you’re in the middle of the action. The Q930D is replacing a Bose Ultra and while that sounded great, there really is no comparison to having actual rear speakers and a subwoofer. There are four preset sound modes, standard, surround, game mode and adaptive sound and three preset equalizer choices, jazz, pop and classical. You do have full control of the equalizer but only in the standard sound mode. There is also a simple eq with just bass and treble. There is an option to place the surround speakers in the front or rear. You can use Private Rear Sound to turn off the soundbar sound for a quieter rear speaker only listening experience. You can also Sound Grouping to group them when listening to music for a fuller group experience. While the Q930D will work with any setup, there are a few features that only work with Samsung televisions/phones - wireless Dolby Atmos, Q-Symphony, Group Play and Tap Sound. Other than the minimal display and dual function remote buttons I am impressed with the looks and sounds from the Samsung Q930D and recommend it.

    Top Notch

My husband and I have tried a handful of soundbar systems over the years; the Samsung Q Series is by far the most expensive and highest quality. We have ours set up in the living room where we do the majority of our tv watching and all of our console gaming. In the box, there’s the main sound bar, subwoofer, two rear speakers for surround sound, power cables, remote (with batteries), and an HDMI cord. There are also mounting brackets for the main soundbar so that it does not need to take up space on an entertainment stand. The mounting screws are not included. There is also no mounting hardware included for the rear speakers. We just picked up a couple of simple speaker stands that are taller than the back of our couch and they work great. Once everything is plugged in, the speakers sync automatically. Assuming your tv is eARC compatible, the Samsung Q Series should sync with your tv’s audio system and allow you to control the volume with your tv’s remote. The brand of your tv should not matter; it works great with our Sony Bravia. Sound quality is incredible at all volumes. Voices are crisp and clear. The bass will make your entire room rumble. I personally enjoy connecting my phone via Bluetooth and jamming while working on my iPad or hanging out with our doggos. The only trouble we’ve had with the system since setting it up a few weeks ago is the occasional disconnect from our tv, which effectively mutes whatever content is playing. A simple on and off fixes this issue and we’re quickly back up and running again. Overall, we’re thrilled to have this setup in our home and would recommend it to anyone in search of a top notch surround sound system.

    QSeires True Dolby Sound

I was kinda suprised by the size of the soundbar being small then my old bar. But i'm amazed by the power and sound this system put out. All around the soundbar and the rear speakers are smaller so that doesnt mean less sound or performance just means they made a better product in a small package. I really like the Q-Symphony that you get to have your TV volume on and the sound bar going at the smaetime so it bring a bigger sound out. Some systems you just to use the soundbar without the TV sound. The pairing of the wireless system is very easy i have a samsung TV that im using and it detected the system right away. The subwoofer is the same size as my other system and gives off a deep bass really shacks the room. You can have this system run Bluetooth, HDMI cable or Optical so you have some good options Also it includes the HDMI cable most companys don't put that in. The remote is slim and has voice activation you can connect this with samsung Smart Things. I have been playing with this with my gaming console and the sound is awesome you can hear the sounds come out of the back speakers. Movies the sound from the rear speakers are great they can be a little creepy on how well it sounds you kinda forget they are on at some point during the movie until something happens. I have to say i really enjoy having thei system i had a 7.1.4 and can tell the sound has improved. This is a system that you will enjoy having and will fill the room with big sound for movie night or the big game.
